Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCCN305B
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
Outline the following topic and reference the document used to guide your practice:

a) Managing the late collection of babies

b) As an educator how would you address a parent who is constantly being late to pick up their baby and the impact on the baby and the other children?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
a) At the initial parent interview / enquiry for care discuss the service's opening and closing times. Discuss with parents the hours of care they need. Discuss the service's policy regarding late pick-up e.g.: Late fee will apply when children are not collected within 15 min of closing time. Childcare Benefit is not available for late fees.

Late fee: $10 per child for first 15 min; $15.00 per hour or part there of after that.

(Parent handbook, Policies & Procedures & Fee Schedule)

b) In your interaction with parent be non-judgmental, keeping conversation respectul. ??

Description and Message:
Not sure how to address the late pick up with parents and what impact it would have on the baby. Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

b) I am thinking that it might upset the baby's routine when parents pick-up late e.g. feeding, might get hungry in car on way home.
