Karlie has arrived to pick her two children up from care . You are aware that Karie is a single mother and she just moved into a unit with her 2 children. the only person she knows in the area is her brother but he lives on the other side of town . the children are always dressed well and bring healthy lunches. you belive the children are obviousely loved and well care for , Karlie does not drive and lives too far away to walk to the centre she askes you privately and wants to borrow $10 to pay to get her children home . she has miscalculated her budget this week and is short today /

what would you do ?

how can you support this family in the short and long term ?

what support programs are available for her?

it is unethical for you to give her money - its puts you in an awkward position. crosses the boundies of professional carer and a freind. It will also encourage further favours
I would also make a comment in your answer about asking your room leader for advice.
Alternatives short term
let her call her brother and make arrangements, extend the care hours so that he can finnish work ect
He may a relative or friend who can help.

long term things Centrelink offer budget management and health care cards that give cheaper bus fares.
hope this helps
