Purpose for documentation may vary depending on which stake holder or aspect of practice you have in consideration;
Firstly it could be to meet regulatory requirements, For example, when you read the National Quality Standard , the Law and Regulations, there are some mandatory documentations e.g. incidents,children's learning and progress, the program etc.
Daily planning is documented in order for you as an educator to share with parents, families and regulators that there is a programming actually occurring, not to mention informing your cycle of planning and/or articulating children's learning and progress over a period of time. Read the Guide to the national Quality Standard.
