Child Focused Practices

Post by kirmar02 » Tue Nov 25, 2014 2:05 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
8. Identify and briefly outline 4 child-focused practices you can routinely employ in your role to uphold the rights of the child and that encourage children to participate in age-appropriate decision making.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Answer:
1. Offering choices, for example would you like to play with the blue truck or the red truck and if too young to know colours asking the child to point to the one they want to play with
2. Role play, helps to develop the child’s communication skills and gives them the choice to decide which direction the roleplay goes.
3. Having group time and listening and learning about each childs needs, wants and personalities, the child can openly communicate and make decisions on what they would like to talk about.
4. Play games that involve the kids to make preferences, for example playing a yes and no game and getting the children make a choice of which circle to sit in (Yes or No).

Description and Message:
Hi,
Any feedback would be great, not sure if i am even on the right track with this one!! Thinking they might want answers from the UN Rights of Children Convention instead...Any ideas??
Thank you again :) :)

I'm pretty sure you're on the right track with your response. I had a read through the "Rights Of The child" and the points you made in your response had similarities to those points mentioned in "Rights Of The Child" document so I think that's what this questions wants you to consider. Try and incorporate both together which you have done! Anyways, that's my understanding of the question...
