Your Question?
Scenario
You have set up a yellow plastic balance beam attached to a A frame 30cm in height. This is placed on the red and blue soft fall.
A group of 3 children all aged 4 yrs approach the obstacle course. Jayden runs along the balance beam very fast and jumps over the A frame at the end landing over a metre away from it. Ahmet and Jacinta follow Jayden's lead running along the A frame with ease. After doing this twice, Jayden stands in front of the A frame and encourages Ahmet to jump off and into his arms, "Ill catch you" he says. Ahmet leaps off the beam and knocks Jayen over. As Jayden lands, his head hits some large plastic blocks behind him.
Question
1. How could you modify the experience so that it is supports co operative play and his more suited to these children's needs?
2. To provide a more natural outdoor space and encourage active play, what resources/materials could you use instead of brightly coloured plastic?
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
2. I was thinking of making stepping stones out of cut up logs and large stones using rubber matting or bark for the softfall.

Re: Cert 3
Using logs as stepping stones is a good idea... You could also use some large stones stones on the ground that the children cun across safely without falling. Also when this up maybe it could be away from other activities so children can play without bumping into things...
Hope this helps,
