Hi, just wondering if someone could please help me out with this question
(question) Think about safe sleeping and resting practices. For each of the three age groups, nursery, toddler and pre-schoolers, make a list of:
1. the rest and sleep needs for each age group
2. the safety precautions for each age group and how these can be best managed for the varying needs of different ages.
3. what about children who dont sleep? what will you provide for them?
4. how do you share this information with parents?
heres my answers:
A day for a child in a care centre can often be busy and exciting, with the child’s brain required to be continually active and engaged. As a result, children’s energy levels can diminish and they can become overstimulated. Slowing the pace down, putting smooth music on, dimming the lights and lowering voices are all methods that are used to give both staff and children the opportunity to relax and recharge their senses. Children that are not tired should not be forced to sleep but encouraged to engage in quiet activity, or quiet readying, often a staff member will read quietly to those who do not have a sleep or a rest.
1.
1-4 weeks old – 15-16 hours of sleep each day
1-4 months old – 14-15 hours of sleep each day
4-12 months old – 14-15 hours of sleep each day
1-3 years old – 12-14 hours of sleep each day
3-6 years old – 10-12 hours of sleep each day
7-12 years old – 10-11 hours of sleep each day
12-18 years old – 8-9 hours of sleep each day
2. THIS IS THE ONE I NEED HELP WITH THE MOST PLEASE AND THANKYOU
3. (still not too sure on my answer for this one).... children who are not tired and do not want to sleep or rest will be provided with some quite activities e.g reading books quietly, playing quietly, or a educator can read to them quietly.
4. STILL NOTHING YET

Re: CHCECE002 - Safe Sleeping and Resting Practices
It's a good start. As for the sleep and rest needs you just need from infants to preschoolers (3 - 5 years). You don't have to add up to 18 years old. I have some information which should be able to help you answer the rest of your questions:
Safe Sleeping
Safe Sleep and Rest Times
Sids and Kids
Hope this helps,
