CHCCN305A- Provide care for babies: Amy & Simon scenario

Post by anjakoshka » Mon Sep 10, 2012 9:17 pm

Simon has telephoned the Centre to ask about placing his 8 month old daughter Freya into
care. The Centre has vacancies on the days Simon wants. He has also contacted two other
Centres who have vacancies and wants to know about this Centres program and environment. Amy is the Group Leader in the baby’s room and she is going to speak to him.

What types of things can she tell Simon about the Centre?

What regulations would it be valuable to mention?

Simon is particularly concerned about sleep time. What information can Amy give him about this routine?

Trouble with these case studies... :/

Well I'm not sure that's why I asked...

For the first question I thought Amy can tell Simon about the routines of the centre, the policies they follow, the general menu and meal times, nappy changing times, nap times and what activities are organised for the children during the day. She can describe how they help a new child to settle into their care and share a few facts about the employed carers.

2nd Question: The regulations that would be valuable to mention would be ones regarding nutrition, healthy and safety, behaviour, code of conduct as well as duty of care.

3rd Question: Amy can tell Simon what time they usually put children for a nap, how it's done and what techniques can be used to settle the child successfully. She may suggest that Simon should come in to take a tour of the centre and speak to some of the staff. She could show him the sleep room so he could see the type of conditions his daughter will be sleeping in and whether they are suitable in his eyes.

Please correct me or add any other info. Thank you.

You'll need to make an attempt on all questions you submit in order to receive support...

What you have written for your answers are pretty good!

The only thing I'll add for no. 3 is that in the babies room the routine will be followed closely to the one already implemented at home... So Simon can write down the routine of Freya and you will implement it as closely as you can within the babies room but this can be is discussed further when he comes for a tour of the centre...

The rest of your answers are fine!
