I'm having a bit of difficulty with a couple question involving filling out a table.
Question 1: Complete the table below to identify if the following situations may cause stress/emotioonal outburst in a child. Explain what you can do to support the child/group in each situation.
- New group leader in the room
- Re-arrangement of room/environment
- A toileting accident
- Rest time if the child does not rest at home
- Putting a child on time out
- Divorce or separation of parents
- Unable to find their belongings
- Telling a child to pack toys away
- The death of a family pet
Question 2: provide details of any differences in your actions, for two (2) of the above situations if the child was culturally and linguistically diverrse or aboriginal/torres strait islander.
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
question 1: I went through each scenario and i think they all can cause stress/emotional outburst in a child. Wasn't sure if this would be right or not. Not sure what to write for what i can do in each situation. Any tips or links would be very helpful.
question 2: i'm unsure if there would be differences in my actioons cause i thought all children are to be treated the same. The only thing i could thiink of is how you speak to them incase they have trouble understanding english. Again any tips would be great.

Yes, each situation mentioned can cause a child to have a stress/emotional outburst.
In each of the situations, think about how you would help and support each child overcome their stress. For e.g. for a new room leader - you could sit together with the child, introduce the child to the new teacher, encourage the room leader to play with the child etc. for the re-arrangement of the room – you could show the child the different areas, talk about what has changed and where new activities can be found, support the child while exploring new areas of the room etc. For each situation just think of what you would do to help the child…
For question 2, yes the way you would communicate would be different because they a culturally and linguistically diverse child may not understand, you could also use photographs, visuals or get an interpreter to help you communicate.

The new Group Leader is like a new child being added, you need to make her/him feel welcome and ensure the children know who they are, for a group leader not so much teh role as kids see us all teh as equal anyways.
Divorced / split parents there is books out there to help, Some better then others, But you can also link the child with another child of the same type of family if they become unsettled. Along with when "mothers or fathers day' comes alone have things for the child to do for other members of the family.
toilet events, can be tricky as some times the child will just be out there on it and others will be shy about it, Judge the child but also ensure that you do not belittle or joke about it in a bad way. accidents do happen after all.
