On 2nd March, it is Dr Seuss Day. It is a day that celebrates the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel – otherwise known by the pen name by which he authored children’s books: Dr Seuss. The following provides free Printables that will you celebrate Dr Seuss Day at your service and activities that can be implemented into the curriculum for children.

The Truffula Tree Colour Matching enables children to match the correct truffula tree to the matching correct colour mat. This is great for children learning to recognise colours and also being able to identify colours.

Dr Seuss Hat Shapes Matching enables children to match the correct missing shape piece to the matching Dr Seuss matching hat. These can also be laminated and used with playdough to fill in the correct shape.

The Dr Suess Posters feature famous quotes from the Dr Seuss series. Dr Seuss encourages us to be curious about the world around us, to ask questions and open not only our eyes but our minds and hearts, too. The vast majority of work by Dr Seuss is characterized by rhyme and colourful and imaginative characters. These can be used to display within the learning environment.

Dr Seuss’s six books will no longer be published as those are accused of being racist to some particular communities. The books include And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street (1937), McElligot’s Pool (1947), If I Ran the Zoo (1950), Scrambled Eggs Super! (1953), On Beyond Zebra! (1955), The Cat’s Quizzer (1976). Critics said the books contain language and imagery that is outdated or offensive and strictly racist.
