Moderna, the biotech giant, seeks approval for their vaccine against covid-19 for children from 6 months to 6 years old. Moderna has submitted the trial reports and all the necessaries to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA), and other regulators around the world for authorisation.
Stephane Bancel, CEO of Moderna, says that it is good news for the parents of children aged between 6 months to 6 years as Moderna is now ready to boost up their immune system against covid-19 with the help of their jab. Moderna is on its way to having the approval for its vaccine.
They have found two doses of the vaccine that would produce a strong immune system for the children in said age group. The CEO, Stephane Bancel also said that Moderna has the clinical report of the trial of the vaccine which shows its successfulness of the vaccine.
Here to mention that the biotech giant, Moderna, initially had conducted a trial with 11,700 children in Canada and in the United States. In the trial process, there were 4200 children between the age of 2 to 6 years and there were also 2500 babies of six to two months. The research and trial found that 25 micrograms of the dose are significant for the use of vaccines. However, the trial also revealed the low efficacy rate of the said vaccine but Moderna said that low efficacy had also been seen for the adults who received the vaccine. Moderna is looking to add a third dose to increase the efficacy level. Though before the third dose they have to take approval for the first two doses.
If the vaccine gets authorisation, it will be a piece of relief for the parents of the children of the mentioned age group. They can feel a bit of strength in the fight against the covid virus. Here to mention that Pfizer-BioNTech is also trying to get approval for their vaccine for children under five – and are expected to have data to present to the FDA in April.
