Early Childhood Australia has developed a free online course that introduces early childhood professionals to the concept of child-safe organisations and the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. It highlights everyone’s role in creating safe environments where children’s rights are respected, risks are reduced, and harm is identified and responded to appropriately. Suitable for all staff in education and care settings.
Every child has the right to be safe, heard, and protected from harm. This course introduces early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals to the essential concept of child safe organisations. Rooted in the findings of major national inquiries, the course explains why all organisations working with children must commit to safeguarding children’s rights and well-being. Participants will explore the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, learn how to apply these in practice, and reflect on how everyone has a role to play in creating a culture of safety. Through case studies, reflective questions, and practical tools, this course empowers individuals and teams to take active steps towards embedding child safety in every aspect of their service.
Designed to fit within a framework of training and support that builds a child-safe culture, this course is designed for all people working in education and care settings and should be completed annually to support a strong, consistent foundation for child-safe practice.
