As Educators it's important we protect the children from UV rays and offer the best sun protection we can. The free SunSmart app tells you when the UV is 3 and above with sun protection recommended for your location. This is very helpful to use on warmer days to determine if children are able to play outside or not.
The app uses the forecast information from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and lives UV data from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) to inform us of “sun protection times” in more than 600 places in Australia. The App has several features which will definitely attract us to it. It gives UV and Sun protection alerts every day. The sunscreen calculator in this app suggests the minimum sunscreen application based on everyone’s choice of outfit. This is followed by a two hours reminder so that one could not forget about the necessary items before going out. It will give you a weather information forecast for 4 days along with the forecast of sun protection time. It will give live information on UV rays in major cities and will forecast the UV levels in all other cities.
This is a great initiative by the Cancer Council Of Australia and the Victorian Government.
