The following lists cultural, special and community events that are taking place in June 2024. This should help you to plan and organise upcoming events and celebrations for June 2024.

01 June

  • World Milk Day - An international celebration of milk and the milk industry.
  • Butterfly Education and Awareness Day (BEAD) - To raise public awareness about the benefits and necessity of butterfly conservation, the AFB now declares the first Saturday of June as Butterfly Education and Awareness Day (BEAD).

02nd June

  • Italian National Day - Festa della Repubblica is the Italian National Day and Republic Day. A national holiday in Italy, it celebrates the day in 1946 when Italians voted to abolish the monarchy and form a republic.

03rd June

  • Mabo Day - Mabo Day commemorates Eddie Koiki Mabo and his decade-long effort to make the Australian Government officially recognise that his people own Mer Island. On 3 June 1992, the High Court of Australia acknowledged that Mabo and his people had traditional land ownership agreements and that it was up to the people of Mer Island to determine who owned land today.

04th June

  • International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression - The purpose of the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse.

5th June

  • World Environment Day - A flagship campaign for raising awareness on environmental issues emerging from human overpopulation, global warming, and marine pollution, to wildlife crime and sustainable consumption.

  • National Sausage Roll Day - The sausage roll is one such treat we have always wanted for. The one that is meat-filled, flaky, flavourful and delicious. If you have not had these sausage rolls before it's far time to add them to your menu and the Sausage Roll day is the perfect occasion to do it.

05th - 11th June

  • Heart Rhythm Week - Arrhythmias are responsible for between 23,000 and 33,000 sudden cardiac arrest deaths each year, many of which could be avoided with greater public awareness of their risks and symptoms. The most common arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation affects an estimated 240,000 Australians and increases the chance of someone suffering a stroke by five times.

8th June

  • World Oceans Day - The United Nations day for celebrating the role of the oceans in our everyday life and inspiring action to protect the ocean and sustainably use marine resources.

  • National Buddy Day - National Buddy Day, an initiative developed with The Alannah and Madeline Foundation to celebrate friendship and raise awareness of the issue of bullying in Australian primary schools.

12th June

  • World Day Against Child Labour - aims to focus attention on the global extent of child labour and the efforts needed to eliminate it.

14th June

  • International Bath Day - roots back to Greek Archimedes who discovered on this day that an object's volume can be measured by submerging it into water. Archimedes discovered this while being in the bath!

  • Queen’s Birthday (not in WA or QLD) Public Holiday Day

15th June

  • Global Wind Day - In more than 75 countries around the world, wind farms are in operation, generating energy from a clean and renewable source. Global Wind Day is a worldwide event for discovering wind, its power and the possibilities it holds to change our world.

18th June 

  • International Sushi Day - celebrates this potentially delicious meal and seeks to raise awareness about the truths and fiction surrounding it.

  • International Picnic Day - celebrate by getting outside and enjoying nature with friends or family! It’s an opportunity for you to take a break from your daily routine and enjoy some time in the great outdoors.

21st June

  • International Day of Yoga - Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word 'yoga' derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

  • World Giraffe Day - In honour of the longest-necked animal. The day will either be the longest one or the longest night depending upon the hemisphere you live in.

  • Make Music Day - Celebrates music in all its forms and the impact it's had on the world and the human spirit.

  • Winter Solstice - Known as the day of the “sun’s rebirth”, winter solstice celebrations honour the symbolism of fire and light, along with life, death, the rising sun, and the moon.

23rd June

  • International Women in Engineering Day - an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry.

25th June

  • Bring Your Dog To Work Day - Having dogs in the workplace has a whole range of benefits - from reducing stress to increasing productivity and improving team relationships.

27th June 

  • National Sunglasses Day - celebrating the importance of wearing shades to protect the eyes from the sun's harsh ultraviolet (UV) rays.
