Nuts and Bolts

Use nuts and bolts to develop a child's finger and hand muscles needed for writing.

Give child at least a dozen sized bolts and matching nuts.
See if they can find the ones that go together and screw the nuts into the bolts.

To increase the challenge of this activity try these - beat an egg timer, do it blind folded and beat the clock (time each other and see who can do it the fastest).

Appropriate Age: 3 year+
Number of Children: Individual (1), Couple (2), Few (3), Small Group (4)

For a 3 year old child:

- Uses hand-eye coordination.
- Manipulates small objects.
- Show or tell use of objects.
- Count 2 or 3 things.
- Does simple comparing.

For a 4 year old child:

- Manipulates small objects.
- Uses hand-eye coordination.

- Listens to and understands instructions.
- Initiates own play experiences.
