This week we celebrate National Science Week (15 - 23 Aug) which is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. This celebration aims to increase understanding and appreciation of science. For children, conducting science experiments gives them a hands on approach in learning about the different scientific processes. Here are a couple of science experiments to get started:
Show how carbon dioxide in the soda is attracted to the mentos. This builds up the pressure to cause the soda to "fly".
Show the effects when oil and water don't mix as the tablet used in this experiment dissolves in water and release carbon dioxide gas bubbles (lava).
In our Children Activities page you could also find a variety of different science experiments which you can also incorporate into this weeks "science" topic. Each science experiment has "the science factor" which explains the reactions caused during the experiment. This will help the children develop their understanding of the processes that occur.
