Man Charged For Claiming $100,000 In False Childcare Subsidy Payments

In South Granville, NSW, a 33-year-old man has been recently charged for allegedly claiming almost $100,000 in false childcare subsidy payments.

Less than a year before, his wife was charged with operating a fraudulent day-care centre from their family home.

The South Granville man has been charged with two counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.

Last year, investigators charged 17 people including the wife of the South Granville man, in relation to Red Roses Family Day Care, which was allegedly built on an entirely fake business model and included mock-up play areas, as well as false rostering and timesheets for staff who never cared for any children.

Further investigations revealed the same South Granville address had allegedly been used by the accused to fraudulently claim government subsidies for a separate family daycare operator, unrelated to Red Roses.
