In Melbourne’s north-east, both parents of a child who attends a childcare centre tested positive to the coronavirus yet the childcare centre remains open.
A letter was sent out a to all families informing them that one of the child's parents who tested positive for coronavirus attended the centre for 3 days in a row.
The Victorian Health Department advised the Cheif Executive of the childcare provider that the risk of transmission to children and other families was low.
The letter also stated "This family has now gone into isolation and as per Victoria Health advice are monitoring their condition. Although this diagnosis is concerning it is not something to be alarmed about. We have been directed to have the centre thoroughly cleaned. We are extremely conscious of the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care, their families and our educators so we will be conducting a deep clean of the centre tonight".
It has not been confirmed whether the child has also been tested for the virus.
