An inner-city Melbourne childcare centre is replacing a visit from Santa at the end of year party, with a visit from the Sustainability Pirate instead.
An invite obtained by 3AW's Neil Mitchell read" 'Sustainability pirate will be attending and we will have a nature treasure hunt. This year’s party will be a get-together picnic and fresh food swap for children and families to celebrate the end of the year”
A Parent of a child at the childcare centre revealed the change after receiving an invitation for the event and told 3AW Radio host Neil Mitchel about it yesterday.
According to 7News, the childcare centre said it wants everyone to feel welcome regardless of their religious, cultural or spiritual believes. A pirate was chosen to teach the children about sustainability after it received new grants for environmental projects.
