Environment influencing cultural identity

Post by Victoria85 » Fri May 23, 2014 10:08 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHECE001 Develop Cultural Competence
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
Give one example of how the environment can influence someone's cultural identity

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
If someone were to migrate from Afghanistan to a remote community in Australia they would probably find the change in their environment to have a negative influence on their cultural identity.

Description and Message:
Just need to know if I'm answering the question?
I would talk about how the food we eat is different and they may not have access to a lot of ingredients they use, how they could feel isolated and alone without many people who would speak their language. How they may feel embarrassed or scared to go out with their traditional dress especially if they are Muslim women and wear burkas.

I would word all of this more appropriately, just checking to see if I'm addressing the question correctly?
Thank you!

Yes I think you're on the right track with your response. I understand what you are trying to get across and I think it answered the question... So yes, I'd go with that!
