I am providing a link to an online thesaurus. Just type on each of the words you listed and it will give you synonyms for each word and explanation.

http://thesaurus.com/browse/proud (I did proud as an example)

Once you get the meaning you should be able to come up with a strategy. If not, just Google for example: "strategy to show child proud".
