Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCFC301A
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
Describe the risk factors that may occur for children that may come from a lower socio-economic setting? Use these headings in your answer- (1) Aspects of poor early childhood development (2) Potential long term aspects

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I have first researched the actual meaning of socio-economic ( Of or involving both social and econmic factors). for myself I would only see problems with social aspects of early childhood development. Would economic also mean maybe the possibilty of lack of access to correct foods and nutrition that a child may need to pyhsically development? Am i not looking into this deep enough

Description and Message:
Hay guys im back!! we moved recently and sadly because of NBN issues i havent had access to the internet, silly me decided it wouldnt take long.......now im behind again (not literally i have another month till this is due, I set myself goals) I have almost finished my table for activity plans so i decided to skip forward to all my questions.

HI there
children from poorer socio-economic areas generally have poorer literacy skills as they are not read to as much as children from higher socio-economic areas. So areas such as oral language, written language and reading abilities are generally poorer.
Definitely social, they may have limited contact with groups such as playgroups, early childhood nurses etc,
Dental hygiene, lots of tooth decay is another area.
Basic knowledge of healthy foods (reliance on fast food etc) is also a factor.
Lack of transport can impact on things such as health, socialisation etc as parents have no transport to get to places so children miss out and can become isolated.

i used to work at a school in a low s/e area and we were sent to lots of PD's about this - interesting stuff

Hope this helps
