Your Question?
read the following scenario and answer the questions below.
Leanne is new employee to preppy preschool. the children at the preschool bring their own lunch to the service. recently Leanne has noticed that many of the children bring chocolate coated biscuits and bars for morning tea. as the weather is warming up these bars are melting and causing mess and fights among the children, some children wished they had chocolate. Leanne is also concerned about the health benefits of these chocolate coated bars. Leanne looks through the policies and procedures manual and notices that there is no policy for this.
a. what should Leanne's next step be?
b. if Leanne wanted to implement/ create a new policy how could she begin?
c. do you think it is important to have a policy in place for this type of thing ? why?
d. what resources could Leanne access to help her with her decision?


What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
a) Leanne should notify the manager/supervisor regarding no policy or procedure what food children should bring or not so they should create for children’s better health

• Discuss at a staff meeting to see if others hold similar or different views
• Can take feedback from staff members
• Send notice to parents

c) Yes it is important to have a policy in place for this type of thing
In childcare center there could be children with having allergies with chocolate and nuts.

Not too sure where you need help because your answers are fine! :thumbup:

For c) you can also add that is it also important for children to understand healthy food and nutrition and this can be done by putting a healthy food policy in place.
