How is a principle of development different to a theory of development?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Tried doing some online research but had trouble finding anything useful

I have just started a unit in the new Diploma for 2014 but am having trouble with some of the questions so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
