EYLF Outcome 1.4?

Post by jeremyhendo » Thu Jul 18, 2013 7:18 am

Hi everyone. At the moment I need some clarification about outcome 1.4 as it states that educators promote learning through small group interactions. I'm working in a 30 odd place toddler room at the moment and we are splitting the groups throughout the day but I'm still left with 14-16 toddlers for a group time. I have another staff member with me but they are usually busy setting up lunch or making their beds. Do we know specifically what the framework wants in relation to small group interactions?

From my understanding I think it's referring to, if you plan an experience or group game for a small group of children of about 5 or 6 children. So, let's say you are reading a story to a group of 4 children this can be considered as a small group. I don't think 14 to 16 children is considered a small group...

Hope this helps,
