Hi

I have been in childcare for 8 years and am currently in the role of acting assistant director for a center of 132 children. I have a certificate 3 and studying my diploma. I can pretty much RPL the entire the course due to my experience, skills and competence. My question is what classification and level would I be under giving I am performing tasks higher than a Lead educator role. I was thinking level 5A but my employer has giving me a job description of Lead educator. I am a full-time employer. I guess I just don't want to be getting ripped off. Thank you.

Hi Sharni,

Yes I would agree that if you are taking on the assistant director role you woud be a Level 5A if you do not have a qualification however doing the duties of an Assistant Director.

Duties include:

Co - ordinate and direct the activities of employees engaged in the implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs.
Contribute, through the Director, to the development of the centre or service's policies.
Co - ordinate centre or service operations including Occupational Health and Safety, program planning, staff training.
Responsible for the day - to - day management of the centre or service in the temporary absence of the Director and for management and compliance with licensing and all statutory and quality assurance issues.
Generally supervise all employees within the service.
