As a first year Diploma qualified educator your classified at Level 4.1 - your hourly wage is $23.13/per hour (full time) or $28.91/per hour (casual).

Hi. I am wondering if you finished an advanced diploma course in child care, will they pay you higher even if you are classified as a room leader? Thanks

As far as I know no, because an Advanced Diploma focuses more on managing a centre. If you had a 2IC, Director position then I think you should be paid higher since you hold the Advanced Diploma qualification but as far as a room leader goes a Diploma qualification is all that is required...

Hi Lorina
I heard there is pay rise in childcare since 1-7-15.
I started as casual work 4 months ago and recently I started traineeship in diploma (new entrant trainee). I am paid normal casual pay that is 19.64 plus 25% casual loading. Shouldl I be getting the pay rise that is 20.13 plus 25% casual loading now. Or I wont get because I am a trainee ???
Thanks

Are you completing a traineeship as a casual or as a full time? From what I understand traineeship wages are different from casual wages...

Hi Lorina
I am working as a casual part time. then was asked to do diploma and only option given to me was as traineeship. I get paid as casual childcare worker level 1.
Thanks

Ok so I just compared your casual hourly wage against Level 1.1 and it should actually be $22.10/per hour as stated in the Children's Services Award. However, the hourly wage you are receiving of $19.64/per hour is the actual part time traineeship wage. So, based on the information you have provided, from what I understand you are receiving the part time traineeship wage rather than the casual wage for Level 1.1 which is $22.10/per hour.
For your reference: Children's Services Award 2010 (find Schedule D - National Training Wage Level A)
Hope this makes sense,
