For over a year i was working as the cert 3 assistant in our OSHC service but was still being paid as a qualified (because i have my diploma)
then all of a sudden things changed and work has told me if im working as an assistant then i only need to be paid the cert 3 rate. even though my qualification is diploma qualified.

is this correct? if im only working in the room as an assistant then they dont need to pay me a diploma rate?

Even when you work as an assistant there is a "diploma" wage. It's more than a cert 3 assistant but less than a room leader. The minimum hourly wage is $23.21/per hour full time. So, you are paid as a diploma qualified assistant rather than a cert 3 qualified assistant.

You will need to make sure that you will be paid the right amount. Speak to your director and let them know that you checked the Children's Services Award 2010 and that the wage table states that as a Diploma qualified assistant you're paid $23.21/per hour.

Hi lorina

wow thanks so much for the quick reply.
i work at a casual rate still even though i have a set roster :o

my casual rate is 26.85 p/h and this is the rate im paid at everyday UNLESS im working for the day in the room as the qualified then they change it to 29.64.

does this sound right?

Yes, quick reply today as you caught me at the right time! LOL! :giggle:

Sorry should of asked if you were working full time or casual...

As far as I am aware OSHC workers still fall under the Children's Services Award 2010 and as a casual assistant you should at least be paid a minimum of $29.01...

How long have you had your Diploma?
