childcare.
- Helps us as carers set professional goals but does not set enforcable standards or tell us what to
do.
- Offers guidelines in relation to children, families, collegues, community and society, and carers as
professionals.
- It provides carers with a helpful guide for examining and promoting ethical behavior in relation to
programme planning; Resolving ethical dilemmas etc.
- Goals of the Code of Ethics include, but are not limited to:
>Clarifying what is important among conflicting workplace demands.
> Specifying the core values, beliefs and practices that are
fundamental to early childhood professionals.
> Ensuring quality of service by identifying what cannot be
compromised.
> Raising the status of early childhood workers.
> Assisting in decision-making concerning new policies or
regulations.
> Unifying the profession by identifying common beliefs among
different sectors.
> Equipping early childhood professionals to assume new roles and
responsibilities in relation to families, colleagues and the
profession.
