Variety Livvi’s Place Glenfield in Sydney is a playground and supports all abilities through its inclusive play offerings. It has won the national award for Playground Design and Development Award and has become more popular and getting admiration from lots of children in Sydney.

The specialty of the playground is that it takes care and entertains every child, irrespective of special needs or not, and also entertains who accompany the children like parents, grandparents, or caregivers. The children who cannot move without mobility instruments also have the opportunity to be entertained by different rides and services in this place. It has actually become the amusement provider for all irrespective of age or special needs.

In April 2021 Variety’s Livvi’s Place Glenfield has opened. It has others play spaces also in many places in Sydney. The name is quite familiar to the inhabited of Sidney. Variety is one of the renowned charitable organizations in Australia that helps the children of Australia and also grants funds for Australian families and thus helping the families to raise their children. Variety grant funds for mobility instruments like a wheelchair, educational aid, they offer therapy services and also help in medical items and services.

Baz Richards from the Place Design Group says, "We wanted to create a play space for children and youth, as well as parents, grandparents, and carers who take their children to the space."

He also said that "Some people face barriers with mobility, travel, and even access to public bathroom facilities, so we wanted to provide an all amenities play experience that would allow for all-day stays to be a reality, regardless of ability."

Place Design Group worked with Variety (the children’s charity NSW/ACT) and Campbelltown City Council to deliver a space that becomes the hub of community togetherness in a beautiful parkland setting; an environment where the needs of all have been thoughtfully considered. The space incorporates accessible elements for parking, changing and toilet facilities, water play elements, as well as bike tracks.

‘Uniqueness’ is a key driver in the development of the design. Our team worked closely with a team of specialists to develop custom playground features that provide engaging, imaginative and memorable experiences for all visitors. For this project, we developed our customised ‘inclusive play matrix/checklist’ (based on the ‘Everyone Can Play’ guidelines) that ensures all design thinking is in line with best practice inclusive play principles.

This is an overwhelming initiative by Variety and we all hope that this will inspires others also to create such an amusement place for all the children, youth, and others impacting of age and individual physical abilities.
