ABC KIDS listen commissioned six new Indigenous language tracks for their Lullabies program.
These beautiful songs, with themes about the natural world and sweet dreams, provide a soothing soundtrack to help little ones gently drop off to sleep.
Larrakia Lullaby - The Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo - June Mills is a senior Larrakia elder and renowned songwriter and performer. June wrote Larrakia Lullaby and directed Lena Kellie to perform it in the rarely heard Larrakia language.
Buddy’s Lullaby - Languages: Ndjébbana (central-western Arnhem Land) and English sung by Noni Eather and Caiti Baker. Buddy’s lullaby was written by Caiti Baker and Noni Eather.
Nabárrdja -The Little Crab - The Little Crab is sung in Na-Kara and English by the Ripple Effect band members, Rona Lawrence, Marita Wilton, Rachel Thomas and Jodie Kell.
Wirrumu -The Moon - Sung in Yolngu Matha languages (from northeast Arnhem Land) & English by Manuel Dhurrkay & Caiti Baker.
Ngarradj- The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo - Sung in Kunwinjku (western Arnhem Land) & English by Jean Burrunali and Phoebe Wear. Jean is the lead singer of the band Wildflower, Phoebe Wear is an emerging pop singer.
