Andrew’s Labour Government launched a Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership and flagship Teaching Excellence Program – an Australian first which leads the best teachers back to the school. Minister of education, James Marlino officially opened the Academy in Melbourne Tressary Precinct on 22 March 2022. A huge amount of some 148.2 million dollars has been spent to support the teachers to develop their skills and provide an even better education for Victorian students.
The new Academy will provide a nation-best opportunity to develop the best qualities of teaching and to generate leadership among Teachers so that they can influence positively every student from different schools in Victoria. The academy will mainly be focused on two-stream of learning. One is teaching excellence and another is teaching leadership. The academy also has 7 regional sites these are situated in Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Mildura, Moe, and Shepparton which will shortly open in the upcoming months.
This academy by giving teachers training on teaching experience and leadership experience indirectly will help the students of Victoria from different schools and communities. Improved teaching skills will provide a better opportunity for students to learn more strategically and methodologically. Leadership excellence will help to make the students more confident, extrovert, assertive which ignites their ability to self-evaluation, authentication, and optimism towards life.
The teaching expertise program is approximately going to support 500 teachers from different schools, government schools, private or catholic schools. The program will support the teacher every year to be more expert in teaching and leadership qualities which will give benefit every student of Victoria provinces. Different subjects like English, health, physical education, humanities, mathematics, languages science, and technology will be tailored to teachers.
Eventually, the teacher will share their extended knowledge and expertise with their students and ensure that every student gets benefited from it. On the other hand, the leadership Excellence program will teach a teacher about educational leadership so that more assertiveness and optimism overpower them to be reflected on students.
