Are Casuals getting paid during forced lockdown?

Hi Lorina,

I am a Diploma casual working for a big group . I get work with the group in their 2 centres almost all 5 days. I am actually prebooked for a month. I am home , sick last week due to influenza ( passed through a sick child). Just wondering if i still get paid as i had to stay home till I get my swab tests and clearance. Is there any legislation passed for the casuals in this tough time? I have children and bills to pay . I cannot sustain without pay. Do I get paid for my last week while i was sick? I have sent the Drs Certificate to the Manager but she refused saying "You are a casual".

Please shed some light on this.

Thanks,Ja1p

Unfortunately, as a casual employee, you do not get sick leave or annual leave because you get casual loading and a higher rate of pay.

I would suggest that you contact Centrelink and see if you are eligible for any payments during this time.
