At what age would you have textas on offer with pencils and crayons for children in a Childcare setting for colouring, drawing and pre writing and why?

I think you should offer textas to toddlers (youngest) as they provide a different medium used for drawing etc. You could also experiment with textas by adding water on top of the colours to let it soak through. The only precaution is to make sure that the textas are non toxic for those children who put everything in their mouth...
Hope this helps!

Occupational Therapists often recommend to start with crayons, pencils and chalk first because they have more resistance when in contact with paper/cardboard/chalkboards. This resistance in the texture helps the children develop better dexterity and strength in their hands (than textas/whiteboard markers), so more helpful to accomplishing correct pencil grip.
