Does anyone have any expiriance regarding what to expect during an independent OSCH service outsourcing? (Either to Camp Australia, or OSHClub.)

I worked as an assistant with OSHClub just after they took over Quality Junior Programs (7-8 years ago?), and Camp Australia as an emergency relief assistant/coordinator for a year after that. I worked in well over 100 Camp Aust schools, as I was working in several different schools a week, each week, because I wanted to get a wide range of expiriance.
While I didn't really have anything against my time with either company, I've much preferred working in an independent service where I have the control to really improve the quality of the service and tailor it to the community.

However, my school has "opened negotiations," with both Camp Aust and OSHClub this week. (We haven't been told about this officially, but the school council is a gossip mill, and as our parents are gravely concerned about the consequences of out sourcing - ie, they'll have to pay more - word's spread pretty quickly through the school.)

Has anyone experienced their service being outsourced? Did you loose much control over your service? Did you find your ability to provide a quality service increased/decreased?

And on a side note, do Camp Aust or OSHClub honor conditions/time employed, or were you made redundant and then newly hired?

My centre was taken over by a very large company last year. We were all worried and parents were anxious... The takeover period was hectic and disorganised and many staff left. However after a few months, things settled down and now I really like being part of the company. We have so many more resources and our centre looks so much better. I had considered leaving in the first few months but things turned out really well in the end.

Thank you that makes me feel a bit better about it.

A lot of horror stories about outsourcing filter through our OSHC network, and all of our parents are dead against it. So it's very easy to get caught up with the stress of it.

The only major thing that bothers me is that the school has waited until I'm off on sick leave to arrange the meetings.

I've had a surgery coming up for ages, but I haven't been able to get the dates pinned down until a few weeks ago. Since March I've been getting asked when my surgery will be, and how long I'll be away.
Then when I get my date, they keep asking how long I'll be away for and keep demanding that I tell them how long I'll be away for. (I can't tell them that until after the surgery, as my surgeon can't say exactly what will be done. The best window I've been able to offer them is anything from 2-8 weeks, but they keep pushing me to clarify to the point where the book keeper raised the issue during a committee meeting, and demanded that I tell her exactly how long I'll be off for in front of the entire committee. When I said I couldn't say, she then asked what I was having done. The only thing that shut her up was a father on the committee pointing out that she had exactly zero right to know.)

Then low and behold, they arrange meetings with the companies the day I have my surgery.

I'm getting the impression that I'll be coming back from sick leave to no job.

I’ve been wondering, is it really worth outsourcing an independent OOSH service? Does it actually help streamline operations?

Of course, It’s worth it! Just like when you outsource pulmonology billing services, outsourcing OOSH services can save time, reduce administrative burdens, and ensure everything runs efficiently while you focus on providing quality care.
