Hi everyone.
I work in the 2-3 room and the toddlers are showing a great interest in sea life and underwater. The assistants in my room and i have some great ideas to extend on this but was wondering what other ideas people have. Also i was wondering if anyone knew of a company or person who comes out to centres to talk about sea life i know there is someone who does reptiles and etc. I was also wondering if anyone knew of any wildlife companies that give donations of resources, pamphlets etc to centres.
Thanks in advance Emma

My centre has a fish pond and we do group times outside around it in nice weather with marine biology related flashcards. Each day a different child has a turn at feeding, helping to scoop out the pond etc which teaches repsonsibility.

As for someone coming to do a presentation there isn't one that does Sea Life, plenty for Wildlife though. Maybe you could create your own pond like barbie has or even your own room fish tank? Find sea animal videos on you tube and get your group to watch them and write down children's comments and reactions. Is it possible to plan an excursion to Sydney Aquarium... I just went to their website and they have some info you could check out:

You could even adopt your own sea animal! http://www.sydneyaquarium.com.au/protec ... an-animal/
More info on Sea animals: http://www.sydneyaquarium.com.au/visito ... rium-blog/
Also, here are a few art ideas that have been discussed on the topic:
art ideas, under the sea theme?
Just a few ideas,

There is a company that brings sea creatures to centres! They came to mine a few months ago... can't remember the name though
But they brought things like seaweed, shells, fish (even a clownfish - the children were very excited to see Nemo!), an eel, crabs, starfish, sea snails etc. They set up a little pool of the animals the children could touch and hold like the starfish, they really loved that. I'll have a search and see if I can find the name of the company
