Hi everyone, I am a full timer and my centre has told me that they usually will closed during christmas and new year period for 2 weeks. And I am wondering can I refuse to take my annual leave and use unpaid leave instead? I would rather save my annual leave and use it when I needed. Thank you in advance! :D

You could refuse and ask to use unpaid leave however a lot of company's don't allow this as they end up with their employees having ginormous amounts of paid leave and could be forced to pay them out etc

A lot of company policies also have paid holidays connected to OHS as well. The best option is to read your contract and/or contact the HR department if you have one because annual leave being the only option for the Christmas & New Years period is quite common:

Definitely check your contract so you know what kind of agreements there are between you and your employeer:

Can't see any harm in asking if you can though
Hope that's of some use ;)
