There is much debate over what can and does effect each child’s development.
Research the following topics and write at least a half page for each which explains the issue:
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Some children are born with disabling health conditions or an impairments, while others may experience disability as a result of illness, injury or poor nutrition. Children with disabilities include traumatic spinal cord injury, Down syndrome and children with hearing, visual, physical communication and intellectual impairments.
Children who experience disability early in life can be exposed to risk factors such as poverty, shame, discrimination, violence, poor caregiver interaction, abuse, neglect and limited access to programmes and services, all of these can have a major impact on their survival and development.
Children with disabilities effects children’s development in many ways such as, physically and sensory, social and emotional, behavioral and learning or cognitive.
Children with disabilities are frequently hidden from view, ill-treated and excluded from activities that are crucial for their development, they also get bullied and teased by other children which can affect their self-confidence and effect their learning ability and development.
Whether children with disabilities attend mainstream or special need schools, children with disabilities have a right to the same educational opportunities as all other children. Although there are still many debates on whether children with disabilities should be allowed to attend mainstream or special need schools.
The Australian government has confirmed its goal to introduce a funding loading for students with disabilities. The plan of the loading is still being determined and a short term disability loading has been placed across Australia in 2014 while governments develop the permanent loading.
