Scenario: Jonsong

I'm doing a scenario on a child named Jinsong.

I've answered Question 1a the issues relating to Jonsong's health and development that are of concern as;

- Allergic to foods including dairy, eggs, shelfish and wheat products; can result in mild to severe reactions
- Bilingual Child as two languages are being spoken to the child 'Mandarin and English'
- Asthmatic, needs nebulizer morning and evening
- Slow to reach developmental milestones
- Is in consultation with a Paediatrician
- Taking Chinese medication
- Did not interact with parents/sits passively
- Doesn't explore his surroundings
- Doesn't engage in verbal interactions

Question 1b: What additional information should the educator seek in relation to Jinsong's additional needs and ongoing care?

(I was thinking..)

- What strategies are used at home with Jinsong?
- What milestones has Jinsong reached?
- What milestones do we need to support Jinsong with..
- What are some key words they use at home/would the parents be okay to collaborate with other professionals

Is it okay to mention the medication? I would think so as they wouldn't include it in the scenario otherwise. I thought maybe we should find out what kind of Chinese Medication Jinsong is taking and if there are effects to the medication (But not sure)

(I'm not sure what else or if the above is okay?)

Question 1c: List the range of care issues/challenges that will be need to be taken into account prior to making a decision to enrol Jinsong
- Can we collaborate with the Paediatrician/if so what strategies is the Paediatrician using with Jinsong and the family?
- We will need an Educator to support Jinsong 1:1 so goals and strategies to be put in place for Jinsong to fit in

(Again not sure what else to write)

Can you provide info on the scenario...

So far, from what I can gather it's fine to mention the Chinese Medication as well as foods that he eats at home. You can also find out about his some routine, interests, activities he enjoys etc.

For Q1C you can include:

- using a nebulizer in the morning ad evening will this need to be done at the centre? If so, do we need specific training on how to use it?
- creating a allergy plan, in regards to the child allergies
- getting doctor prescription and certificate for Chinese medicine to be given by educators at the centre

Hope this gives you more ideas,
