Scenario: Jamie - Left At The Centre For 1 Hr

Can someone please help me with this question -
Jamie's mother asks if she can leave her 3yr old at the preschool with Jamie for 1 hr while she does the shopping. What might you say to Jamie's mother to clearly explain and discuss the limitations of the service, negotiate an outcome, and then communicate the final decision to all concerned?

I know it would have something to do with the legal side with the 3yr not being covered by insurance and the staffing ratio would be compromised, what and how would you tell her that she couldn't leave the xhild there to go shopping?
Thank you

If Jamie's mother was to leave Jamie for an hour she would still have to pay for the whole day as the centre does not do "causal drop ins". If there is space in the room for Jamie (another child is sick for example) Jamie could take the spot but will still have to pay for the entire day regardless of how long he stayed in care for....

Since Jamie is an existing child at the centre, you can work around it but if it's a new child then it would not be possible... You may also need to mention that there are enough in the overall numbers of the centre for the day. I mentioned above that if a child is sick that Jamie would be able to attend but you also need to make sure that another child from another room took the position as well. For example: a child is Jamie's room is sick, a child in the baby room wanted to come in as a casual for the day and takes the "spot", even though the baby isn't in Jamie's room, the family still took the spot (as long as ratio allows for extra babies etc). You just have to make sure that centre numbers for the day stay as they are. For example: if you have 35 children overall for the day you have to keep to 35 not over...

Hope this makes sense!
