Practices To Keep Infectious Diseases At Bay

Hello, I'm hoping someone can give me a little assistance with this question, my assessor wants me to consider the practises that the service needs to be able to keep the infectious disease at bay! I would just say that it would need to be a big reason as to why the child should be allowed in a care centre without immunisation!

Thanks

Clairk

Hi ClairK,

You wouldn't have to worry about having unimmunised children at the centre now because the government recently introduced "no jab, no play" policy which gives childcare centres the option to exclude unimmunised children from their centre...

In regards to practices a service could do to minimise the spread of infection, you can include:

- effective hand washing
- appropriate use of gloves
- effective environmental cleaning
- excluding sick children and employees from the centre
