I have a scenario about a little boy who needs to be assessed and is eventually found to have hearing loss, is developmentally delayed, the child is underweight, has poor fine and gross motor skills, his language is delayed. He also has asthma.

The question is "What policies and procedures would the educator have used when seeking assessments and reports for the child's development?"

So far after looking through my placement centers handbook, there is no procedure for suspected disability for a child. One of my answers can be the Asthma And Allergies policy as he has asthma, but I cannot find a center policy for suspected disability and the procedures that follow. When I inquired, they responded "we tell the director, they handle it" and the director makes all the phone calls and referrals, generally the staff do not handle these cases and there's no procedure in place for us.

I realize this is probably just my center, but it makes it difficult for me to answer the question.

If someone could point me in the right direction, what the policies are actually called that I can search for online, I would appreciate it.

To me the questions is asking more how you gain the information. Does it not come under also the observations you would of done to come to your conclusion? It might not come under disability rather than a behaviour! kwim?
