Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
1) A parent approaches you about some problems the family has had with the child getting to sleep at night.while it is not a problem, the parent reports that the child asks to be patted, song to be sung and generally for for one of the parent to stay in the room. the parent wonders what the sleep time routine is at the center, and whether it should be contributing to the child's behavior.

2)The children in ur room have spent a long period of time on constructing a tower of egg carton, which they are proud of. one particular child's parent arrives at the center and reacts with lack of interest when his daughter shows him the tower. what might you do now or later to help the parent see the significance of this event for his daughter.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Arrange a meeting with this parent or just explain to her how her child is sleeping at our center.

1. Yes I would explain to the parent what the routine is and also make it clear that if they do not want their child patted etc that their wishes would be accommodated.

2. I would speak to dad and explain the importance of acknowledging what his child was showing/talking to him about as it is very important for the children to have that and it was something the child felt very proud of. You could also find some articles etc that could be given to parents to highlight the importance of this

Hope this helps
