How to write a funding grant

I'm am wondering if someone can guide me to the right direction. I am ask to write up a grant for a assignment and was ask to look at the community builder website. I am a bit confuse of what am i suppose to be looking at and what format to use. i would like to apply for a funding grant for sustainability. your help will be very helpful. Please provide any links that you know of to guide me further
