Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: HLTHIR404D - Working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner
Your Question?
What are some possible contemporary impacts of other cultures on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and the possible impacts of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures on other cultures?
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
The abolishment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) and the movement to new arrangements for designing policy and delivering programs and services to Indigenous peoples raised many challenges for governments at all levels. It has the potential to impact significantly on the enjoyment of human rights by Indigenous peoples by either leading to improved performance and outcomes by government, or by undermining the enjoyment of human rights by Indigenous peoples. The removal of children from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families has been a sorrowful experience and continues to have an impact on contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies. It is important to acknowledge that past removal practices have had a significant impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, including in some cases loss of cultural norms for child rearing.
I'm not sure if im on the right track, if I have answered this question fully. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
