I think you would need to elaborate this answer a bit.
You are on the right path but the answer is just too abrupt and doesn't really go into any explanation of what kind of info you may be searching for

The gathering of information about a child is an essential part of effective program planning. Without information, early childhood professionals could drastically miss the mark when planning experiences activities routines and strategies for children.

The gathering of information about a child is an essential part of effective program planning. Without information, early childhood professionals could drastically miss the mark when planning experiences activities routines and strategies for children.

I would think that looking at your children's interests, were they are now in their learning abilities, where they can go to next? What skills/concepts you would like to intro next. You would need to also look at the resources you have available, the time you have to introduce things you are programming, staffing levels - lots to consider.

Hi Sonia
Cathie's answer was great. Don't forget about observations, evaluating those observations and programming experiences for further extension. Then of course there is parent input.

ooh, and then use EYLF to tie it together with the learning outcomes, practices and principles.
