Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: Social, emotional and psychological development
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
I am having trouble understanding this assignment. I have to set up a play area inside and outside and observe 3 children's development and learning for 1 week. After having a minimum of 3 recorded observations per child I must comment upon the significance of the psychological, emotional and social development behaviours and skills I have observed, supporting my comments to theorists. From the information I have gained I then have to add to or supplement the two pay areas that I used. Making sure I document my reason for the changes.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I understand the setting up the 2 play areas and the observations, I'm jst having trouble understanding making changes to the play area. Say inside I was to set up playdough with normal playdough toys such as rollers, cutters, scissors etc and then I changed the playdough by adding animals am I meant to make the observations on the children's different way of playing? And why would I change it.
Can someone give me an example of what this means.
Thank you in advance

Sound like you just need to provide details of the changes you made? So, if you added animals in the play dough area it could be because there was an interest in animals that arose during a discussion with the children while reading a story...

Hope this helps,

Agree with LA. Comment on why you made those changes based on your observations. For instance if you noticed that the children were using scissors with the Playdough and all. Seem well accomplished with this, then provide plastic knives and other small implements to further their fine motor and enjoyment.
