Confidentiality
There are ethical and legislative guidelines pertaining to confidentiality an approved early childhood education and care service
1. Identify the relevant principle pertaining to confidentiality, within the ECA Code of Ethics. How do you support this principle within your work practices?
What I have so far-
The relevant principle that is related to confidentiality within the ECA Code of Ethics is number 10- Maintain confidentiality and respect the right of the family to privacy. The way I support maintain confidentiality and respect the right of the family to privacy in my work practices is that all children’s developmental and enrollment records are private and accessible only to the family and relevant staff. It is important to carefully consider what information is displayed and where it is placed. While displaying information in the staff room this may aim to promote a child’s wellbeing which will compromise their family’s right of privacy. By displaying information about food allergies or medication in the children’s room, this can also deny a child’s right to privacy.
2. Provide an explanation, in your own words, of the aim of Element 7.3.1 Records and information are stored appropriately to ensure confidentiality are available from the service and are maintained in accordance with legislative requirements from the National Quality Standards?
What I have so far-
The aim of element 7.3.1- Records and information are stored appropriately to ensure confidentiality, are available from the service and are maintained in accordance with legislative requirements, details the information that is provided by the families, educators, co-ordinators and staff members or other stakeholders are kept confidential at all times and the families build confidence within the service as they know their records are manage and stored correctly.
3. List one legislative confidentiality requirement, pertaining to an approved early childhood eduction and care setting.
What I have so far-
Would this question mean that you need to chose one legislative confidentiality requirement like children's enrollment forms and explain how they are kept and stored in a locked cupboard ect?
