Cultural Communication Technique

1. Considering the cultural background of the families under your care, discuss and describe the appropriate communication technique you will use that matches the families’ cultural background.

2. Use this cultural communication technique to inform families of your care or learning centre’s ‘emergency procedures’ and ‘incident management plans’.

3. Provide visual supporting evidence of the families’ cultural communication technique you had used.

Contemporary Communication Technique

1. Compare this cultural communication technique with the contemporary communication techniques such as emails and newsletter, that is used in urban care and learning context.

2. Provide visual or print materials as evidence of contemporary communication techniques.

3. State why is it important for a carer or teacher to observe and practice the various cultural communication technique in the Pacific.

Hi Lorina,

I have written some points down:

How am I going to relay the message to the families if English is their second language or if they don't understand English looking at their cultural background.
* we could ask someone who knows English better maybe to translate it late it to them
* or we could call them directly and pass the message.

And the second one is comparing cultural communication techniques with modern for example, using internet, newspapers, magazines, etc.

this is what I came up with at the moment.

Thanks

Ok if a family cannot speak English properly you can't really convey messages to them in English if they don't understand. So, if you speak their language then you can communicate with them in their language or you will have to use an interpreter or someone from the community who can translate information for you.

Do you speak another language? If so, do you have a family that speaks the same language as you? Yes, then you can convey messages in that language etc.
