CHCRF511A - Families Concerns & Feelings About Leaving Their Child In Care

Hi everyone,

Can someone please help me with this questions.

List the strategies you would use to find out how the family is feeling about leaving their child in care for the first time and what concerns they have.

This was my answer:

I would spend a lot of time listening actively to the family at the enrolment process and at other times too. They may raise some concerns verbally; I would also listen to their questions they may ask me. I would also watch out for their body language, the mother’s facial expressions may hide some worries about her child attending day care.

But unfortunately, it was wrong. I am confused.

Rocky as a GL you are not really involved in the enrolment process, that is something Admin would deal with. However if their is an orientation day or the parents come around to see the centre you can chat to them and ask questions and determine if the child has been to daycare before or not etc to determine how they are feeling.
Another big giveaway is watching the parents when they drop the child off for Day 1. Do they hang around, not wanting to go? do they go immediately? do they keep calling through the day to check how their child is going?
