iman is 3 and a fussy eater. her father approaches you and insist that his child be allowed to have a nutella sandwich for lunch each day and this is what she eats at home. the father explains to you that he does not mind if his child eats lunch away from other children.

how would you respond ethically to this request?

talk to the father about healthy eating and providing resources
letting the father know it is a nut free center due to allergies and it is not allowed to bring in nutella as it breaches policies
isolating the child also goes against policy
promote and role model healthy eating amongst the children, stories, games, cooking

am l on the right track lorina??

Yes, but I wouldn't think that isolation would go against any policy - it just isn't fair on the child, & you would need to do more than just isolate a child to protect other children from the nuts. It sounds like the family needs resources to support them with fussy eating as well as healthy eating. I don't know how much detail is required but you could talk about how to promote trying different foods & working with the family to encourage the child to try different foods
